謹賀新年 Happy New Year 2014

明けましておめでとうございます。今年の正月は、実家の長崎に帰省して、家族でのんびりしています。
Happy New Year! On this new year holidays, we have been back to our hometown Nagasaki and spending lovely time with our family.

2013年を振り返ると、　
◯仕事面では、年初から環境省で税制と地球環境問題を担当し、４月からは北九州市に赴任し、産業廃棄物対策の現場と有害廃棄物（PCB）処理を担当しています。特にPCB処理問題を通じて地元の人々から環境問題に留まらない想いを直接聴く機会が多くあり、今年は、こうした声も踏まえ、地域から環境・社会・経済をどう良くしていけるのか、自分の限界に挑戦します。
Looking back to 2013, 

-       On a business side, at the beginning I was responsible for taxation and global environmental issues at the Ministry of the Environment. From last April, I have taken in charge of local industrial waste management at the City of Kitakyushu and promoted to dispose harmful waste PCB. Through “PCB disposal issue”*, there have been rare opportunities to get the local people’s opinions on not only the environment but also the wider issues, therefore, based on those voices, I will do push the envelope for better environment, society and economy at the local level this year.

*PCB disposal issue – The Japanese government has requested Kitakyushu city to accept the disposal of a half of PCB wastes stored in Japan and it is under consideration for us to accept or not  as a typical NIMBY(Not-In-My-Backyard) issue  

◯プライベートでは、沙羅も大きくなったため、家族で九州内の福岡、長崎、熊本、大分、山口に足を延ばすとともに、北九州等で開催されたイベントやレジャー、ゴルフを楽しみました。今年は、九州全県を制覇し、更に近隣の沖縄、四国そしてアジア・太平洋に出かけるなど、九州発の思い出をたくさん作りたいと思います。

-     On a private side, as Sarah has grown up enough, we have been to Fukuoka, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita in Kyushu and Yamaguchi. Besides, we have enjoyed many events held in Kitakyushu, leisure activities and golf. This year, we would like to make a lot of memories from Kyushu – like, visit the rest of prefectures in Kyushu, adjacent Okinawa and Shikoku as well as Asia Pacific :-)
